ALERT: 2 Equine influenza positive test; 1 WNV positive bird

Influenza-There have been two positive laboratory reports of influenza A virus. One case was reported from a horse in Lennox-Addington county, and the other from a foal from the District of Muskoka. The horse had not been vaccinated for influenza, and we are unsure of the foal.

West Nile Virus-The first reported bird with WNV was reported in Cambridge,ON. A loggerhead shrike was found dead on May 26th in Cambridge, ON and was reported positive by WNV RT-PCR on June 1st, 2021. Typically the first WNV birds are reported about a month before the WNV positive horses-but this is a guide only.
